This 1952 Dodge M37 is a ¾-ton 4×4 pickup that was designed for military use and is powered by a 230ci inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The electrical system has been converted to 12 volts. The front cabin has green canvas seats, and the rear compartment has fold-down troop seating and a green canvas top. Other equipment includes 16″ steel wheels, a winch, a pintle hitch, and underfloor storage. The seller purchased the truck in 2014 from a dealer in Colorado, and the fuel system was subsequently overhauled and an electric fuel pump was installed. This M37 is now offered with service records, a collection of Army Motors magazines, spare and removed parts, and a California title in the seller’s name.
The truck is said to have been repainted green under previous ownership and is accented by U.S. Army-style graphics and white-painted stars on the doors, hood, and tailgate. The front bumper anchors a winch, and a pintle hitch is found at the rear of the vehicle. An ax, a shovel, and a pickaxe are attached to the tailgate. A jerrycan is secured near the right-front fender.
A pass-through storage compartment is located beneath the bed, ahead of the rear wheels.
Body-color 16″ steel wheels with split locking rings are mounted with mismatched military-style tires.
The rear compartment houses a spare wheel and tire as well as side-facing fold-down troop seating. The cargo safety strap and canvas cover were installed under current ownership.
The cabin features a split bench seat upholstered in green canvas. The driver seat has been patched with duct tape. The cabin heater was removed and the horn was repaired under current ownership.
The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a center-mounted 60-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 25k miles, approximately 50 of which were added under current ownership.
The 230ci T245 L-head inline-six is equipped with a single carburetor, which was replaced in 2015 along with the air intake. Other work performed in 2015 included cleaning and repairing the fuel tank, installing an electric fuel pump and fuel-pressure regulator, capping the original mechanical fuel pump, and replacing the sending unit, fuel lines, and fuel filter. A previous owner converted the electrical system to 12-volt operation. The oil was changed and the oil filter, fuel filter, and spark plugs were replaced in June 2025. The seller states that the engine may require a tune-up or a rebuild in order to make it perform better.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox and a dual-range transfer case. The seller states that the transmission sometimes slips out of gear unless the gearshift is being held. Damage to the underside of the clutch-housing pan is pictured in the gallery below, and a repair part is included in the sale. Corrosion is noted on some components.
The identification plate shows an initial delivery date of July 2, 1952.
A collection of 23 issues of Army Motors magazine published between 1977 and 1993 will accompany the vehicle.
The California title carries an “Off Highway” notation.
