This 1957 Volkswagen Beetle was purchased by the current owner in 2020 and was subsequently modified with the installation of a dual-port 1,641cc flat-four, a Solex carburetor, a Vintage Speed exhaust, a “Freeway Flyer” four-speed manual transaxle, a narrowed front beam, and four-wheel Wilwood disc brakes. Finished in green over light beige vinyl, the car is equipped with a lowered suspension, 15″ steel wheels, a retractable canvas sunroof, chrome bumpers, a cabin heater, and Coco floor mats. This Beetle shows 92k miles and is offered on dealer consignment with service records and a clean Oregon title.
The oval-window body was refinished under previous ownership in green. Exterior details include a retractable canvas sunroof, a driver-side mirror, running boards, vent windows, and chrome bumpers with overriders.
Body-color 15″ steel wheels wear bright hubcaps and were mounted with Pirelli Cinturato tires in 2022. The lowered suspension features a narrowed front beam and KYB Excel G shocks, and braking is handled by a dual-circuit master cylinder and braided stainless steel lines feeding four-wheel Wilwood disc brakes with cross-drilled rotors. The steering box and parking brake cables were replaced under current ownership.
The front bucket seats and rear bench were reupholstered under previous ownership in light beige vinyl that extends to the door panels. Oatmeal square-weave carpets line the floors, and additional appointments include a cabin heater, crank windows, and Coco floor mats.
The ivory-finished steering wheel has cracks and features a Wolfsburg crest horn button. Instrumentation consists of a VDO 80-mph speedometer with an inset five-digit odometer that shows 92k miles. The horn was repaired in preparation for the sale.
The dual-port 1,641cc flat-four was installed in 2021 and features a polished air cleaner with an exposed air filter element as well as a Solex 34 PICT 3 carburetor and a Vintage Speed Super Flow stainless-steel exhaust system. Work performed in 2024 consisted of adjusting the valves and replacing the crankcase vent hose, fuel filter, oil pressure switch, and valve cover gaskets, while work in preparation for the sale consisted of changing the oil and replacing the oil sump gaskets. Results from a recent compression test can be viewed in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a “Freeway Flyer” synchronized four-speed manual transaxle that was installed in 2021. The shift coupler and axle seals were replaced in 2024. Additional underside photos are presented in the gallery.
