1958 Chevrolet Apache 3100 Stepside Pickup NAPCO 4×4 4-Speed

This 1958 Chevrolet Apache 3100 stepside NAPCO ½-ton pickup is said to have been used as a snowplow truck on a farm in Wyoming by the original owner before the seller’s 2018 acquisition. Subsequent work involved rebuilding the manually locking front hubs and four-wheel drum brakes, refinishing the interior in silver and charcoal, and servicing the 235.5ci inline-six with fluid changes, a valve adjustment, and a replacement fuel pump and ignition components. The truck wears a weathered Tartan Turquoise and Bombay Ivory finish over black and gray vinyl, and power is routed to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Other equipment includes a PTO winch, a left-side spotlight and peep mirror, a Barden rear bumper, push-button windshield washers, and body-color 16″ steel wheels. This Task Force pickup is offered with Alabama registration in the seller’s name.

The windshield was replaced along with the window channels, seals, and vent division bars under current ownership. The seller says that a small tree fell across the roof and hood in the 1970s and that the previous owner popped out the dents and applied a thin layer of body filler and primer to the affected areas. There are dents, scratches, and areas of corrosion around the body as well as rust-through on the cab corners and the right-side floor pan, which can be viewed in the gallery below. The wood bed floor is partially present and needs replacement.

Body-color 16″ steel wheels feature white hubcaps and were mounted with Power King Extra Traction tires in 2023. A full-size spare is secured to the left bedside. The seller tells us that the Warn manually locking front hubs and four-wheel disc brakes were rebuilt under current ownership.

The floors and steps were sanded before a rust preventative coating was added and they were refinished in gray. The interior components were repainted silver and the textured dashboard finish was refreshed. The bench seat was reupholstered in patterned black vinyl with silver sides and the deluxe heater was refurbished and powder-coated gray. The seller says that the vinyl floor liner, headliner, sun visors, and door armrests were also replaced. Other appointments include a locking glovebox, chrome hardware, and two-speed electric windshield wipers with push-button washers. The AM radio and right windshield wiper arm do not work. The pictured fire extinguisher is not included.

A replacement three-spoke steering wheel fronts an instrument cluster that was overhauled under current ownership and consists of a 100-mph speedometer and ancillary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 71k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership. The speedometer needle is broken.

Service to the 235.5ci inline-six under current ownership involved repainting the engine block, rebuilding the carburetor, adjusting the valves, performing fluid services, changing belts and hoses, and applying a ceramic coating to the exhaust manifold. The seller says that the radiator was also rebuilt and that ignition components, fuel pump, and battery were changed.
