This 1959 Chevrolet Corvette was purchased from I.C. Mitchell Motor Co. of Atlanta, Georgia, in November 1959, and resided at the same house until Dennis Collins acquired it in 2020. A subsequent owner rebuilt the replacement 327ci V8 and four-speed manual transmission, reupholstered the seats, and replaced the carpeting, and the seller acquired the car in 2023. Equipment includes a removable body-color hardtop, a Holley four-barrel carburetor, 15” steel wheels, lap belts, and a dash-mounted rearview mirror. This C1 is now offered with a 1959 dealer invoice and a clean Missouri title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in red, and blemishes and imperfections are present around the car. The outline of a number 8 is present on the trunk lid, and repair work is noted on the left-front fender. Exterior equipment includes a removable body-color hardtop, quadruple headlights, split chrome bumpers, fender vents, and dual exhaust outlets. The convertible soft top fabric has been removed, and the frame needs repair work.
Red-painted 15” steel wheels are mounted with 205/75 Goodyear tires. The car came equipped from the factory with an independent front suspension and semi-elliptical rear leaf springs. The brakes are said to have been overhauled under previous ownership.
Interior work involved reupholstering the seats and replacing the carpeting. Equipment includes lap belts and a dash-mounted rearview mirror, and the radio and heater do not work. Blemishes are present on the dashboard.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a sweeping 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline as well as gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, battery charge, and oil pressure. A trio of auxiliary gauges is mounted underneath the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 51k miles, approximately 300 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 327ci V8 was installed under previous ownership, and it was found with a Rochester mechanical fuel injection system in 2020. The engine was rebuilt under subsequent ownership and fitted with a Comp Cams camshaft and a Holley four-barrel carburetor. Block casting number 3782870 is shown in the photo gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The exhaust system has been replaced.
An I.C. Mitchell Motor Co. dealer invoice from 1959 shows a November 20 purchase date and lists a 1954 Corvette as a $1,000 trade-in.
