This 1971 Alfa Romeo GTV 1750 was refurbished in the early 2000s and won a number of “Best in Class” awards at Alfa Romeo Owner’s Club events before being sold on BaT in November 2018. The car is finished in Rosso Amaranto over Cuoio Cinghiale vinyl and is powered by a replacement 1,779cc twin-cam inline-four linked with a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes wrap-around front and rear bumpers, power-assisted disc brakes, 14″ silver-finished steel wheels, front bucket seats, and a heater. Work performed in 2024 involved replacing the water pump, fan belt, front crankshaft seal, thermostat, radiator hoses and tie rods along with repairs of the radiator, tachometer, and speedometer. This GTV was acquired by the selling dealer in 2024 and is now offered with the owner’s manual, recent service records, spare parts, and a Texas title.
The car is finished in Rosso Amaranto and received a two-stage repaint during the aforementioned refurbishment. Rust repairs were performed on the trunk lid and in the floors at that time, while the doors were refinished and blemishes repaired in 2017.
The 14″ silver-finished steel wheels wear polished hubcaps and are mounted with 185/70 Pirelli Cinturato CN36 tires. The car was factory equipped with an independent double-wishbone setup with an anti-roll bar up front paired with a live axle, lower trailing arms, and a reaction trunnion out back. Stopping power is provided by disc brakes at all four corners. Koni shocks are fitted, and the tie rods were replaced in 2024.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a contoured rear bench that have been reupholstered in Cuoio Cinghiale vinyl accented by color-coordinated door panels The wood-veneer dashboard trim was re-finished during the refurbishment, and charcoal carpets were installed. The aftermarket stereo is inoperative.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a tachometer with an inset oil pressure gauge as well as a 140-mph speedometer and centrally mounted gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer has rolled over and shows 22k miles. The speedometer and tachometer were repaired and their respective cables replaced in 2024. The selling dealer states the mileage is not accurate, and total mileage is unknown.
The 1,779cc twin-cam inline-four was fitted with a replacement block and was rebuilt in 2013. According to information provided in the last auction, a Sperry Stage II cylinder head was fitted and the SPICA fuel injection system was overhauled in 2000. Work in 2024 involved servicing the radiator and replacing the water pump, fan belt, SPICA belt, radiator cap, front crankshaft seal, radiator hoses, and thermostat.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. An undercoating was applied to the chassis during the refurbishment, and there is a dent in the spare tire well.
The Texas title carries a “Mileage Exceeds Mechanical Limits” remark.
