This 1974 Triumph Bonneville T140V was the subject of a 2018 refurbishment that involved rebuilding the air-cooled 744cc parallel-twin and refinishing the bike in black and white with gold stripes. Additional work consisted of internally coating the replacement fuel tank, rebuilding the fork and dual Amal carburetors, and installing a Podtronics regulator/rectifier, a Wassell stator, Tri-Spark electronic ignition, and Hagon shocks as well as replacing the exhaust system, wiring harness, tires, petcocks, clutch basket and dampers, primary and drive chains, and brake rotor, pads, and shoes. The bike is further equipped with a five-speed transmission, a kick starter, 19″ and 18″ wire-spoke wheels, chrome fenders, a two-up seat, and both center and side stands. Acquired by the current owner on BaT in October 2023, this Bonneville T140V is offered at no reserve a clean Colorado title in the seller’s name.
The replacement fuel tank was internally coated before being refinished in black and white with gold striping and fitted with chrome emblems, black rubber knee grips, and replacement petcocks. The double-cradle steel frame was power-coated in black, and the bike features chrome fenders, black-finished side panels, a black vinyl-upholstered two-up seat, a rear grab handle, folding passenger foot pegs, and both center and side stands. The ignition switch and front fender are replacement components, and an LED bulb was installed in the headlight under previous ownership.
Wire-spoke wheels with chrome-steel rims measuring 19″ up front and 18″ out back were mounted with Dunlop Gold Seal K70 tires during the refurbishment. The fork was rebuilt, and a pair of adjustable Hagon rear shocks was fitted. Braking is from a front disc and rear drum, and the system received a replacement rotor, pads, and shoes as part of the refurbishment.
A chrome pullback handlebar was fitted during the refurbishment, and it carries rebuilt switchgear for the overhauled turn signals. Replacement Smiths instrumentation consists of a 150-mph speedometer and a 10k-rpm tachometer. The five-digit odometer shows seven miles.
The air-cooled 744cc parallel-twin is equipped with a kick starter, dual Amal carburetors, and a replacement chrome dual exhaust system with Norton-style mufflers. The 2018 refurbishment included overhauling the engine and the dual Amal carburetors, replacing the battery and wiring harness, and installing a Wassell stator, a Podtronics regulator/rectifier, and a Tri-Spark electronic-ignition unit and coils.
The number T140VNJ59650 stamped on the engine case matches the last six number stamped on the frame, a photo of which can be viewed in the gallery.
Power is transferred to the rear wheel through a five-speed transmission that is shifted on the right. The primary and drive chains were replaced under previous ownership along with the clutch basket and dampers.
