This Bradley GT II is one of a claimed 500 examples produced from 1978 to 1981 and wears yellow fiberglass bodywork over a Volkswagen Beetle chassis pan. The car features pop-up headlights as well as gullwing doors and rides on 14″ turbine-style wheels paired with disc brakes at each corner. Inside, fixed-back seats trimmed in gray and black upholstery are accompanied by a Grant steering wheel, a Scat shifter, AutoMeter gauges, and a Kenwood CD stereo. Power comes from a 1,600cc air-cooled flat-four equipped with a single downdraft carburetor and paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. This Bradley GT II was purchased by the selling dealer in 2024, and it is now offered at no reserve in Renton, Washington, with a Tennessee title listing it as a 1978 Volkswagen.
Plymouth, Minnesota–based Bradley Automotive introduced the GT II in 1977 as a kit car to succeed their earlier GT. It featured fiberglass bodywork incorporating pop-up headlights and gullwing doors fitted over a Volkswagen Beetle chassis. The car remained in production until the company closed its doors in 1981.
This example is finished in yellow with black side stripes featuring Bradley GT II branding. Further details include chrome front bumperettes, dual side-view mirrors, and a glass rear hatch.
The 14″ turbine-style wheels are mounted with 215/70 Uniroyal Tiger Paw whitewall tires. Stopping power is provided by discs at all four corners.
The cabin features fixed-back seats trimmed in gray upholstery with black inserts. Black carpets line the floors, and further details include a Kenwood CD stereo and speakers along with lap belts for both occupants. Rust on the seat mounts can be seen in the gallery, the rear-view mirror is not installed, and there is duct tape holding the passenger door glass in place.
The four-spoke Grant GT steering wheel is paired with a Scat shifter. Centrally mounted AutoMeter instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a 10k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The retrofitted digital odometer shows 1,800 miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The Volkswagen flat-four features an aftermarket carburetor and a red anodized Scat crank pulley. The engine bay has been lined with Dynamat insulation. The AD-code engine stamping can be seen in the gallery, and it is consistent with a 1,600cc dual-port flat-four produced between 1970 and 1973.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transaxle. There is rust on the quad-exit exhaust system.
The car is titled as a 1978 Volkswagen using the State of Missouri–assigned identification number—DR135752MO—shown above .
