This 1979 Fiat Spider 2000 is powered by a 2.0-liter inline-four fitted with electronic fuel injection, and it is finished in beige over tan vinyl upholstery. The car was acquired by the seller in 2015, and work since 2021 included overhauling the five-speed manual transmission in addition to replacing the clutch, radiator, battery, brake booster, master cylinder, and tires. It rides on 14″ Cromodora alloy wheels and is further equipped with a tan soft top, a top boot, four-wheel disc brakes, a trunk-mounted luggage rack, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a wind deflector, a Sony cassette stereo, and an Ansa exhaust system. This Spider 2000 is now offered at no reserve with service records for work performed under current ownership and a clean Illinois title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in beige with black pinstripes, and the seller tells us that various body panels were repainted under previous ownership. Details include a tan convertible soft top and boot, a chrome-finished trunk-mounted luggage rack, dual side mirrors, and twin exhaust outlets. The turn signals do not work, and rust bubbles are noted near the taillights and on the leading edge of the hood.
The 14″ Cromodora alloy wheels are wrapped with 185/60 Cooper Evolution Tour tires, and a spare is stationed in the trunk. The car was factory equipped with an independent front suspension with a sway bar and coil springs as well as worm-and-roller gear steering. Stopping power is provided by discs at all four corners. The brake booster, master cylinder, and tires were replaced in 2021.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in tan vinyl along with woven floor mats that line the footwells. Appointments include woodgrain dashboard trim, a wooden shift knob, a wind deflector, a dash-mounted compass, a Sony cassette stereo, and a heater. Power window switches are mounted in the center stack, however, the vehicle is equipped with wind-up windows. The rear passenger panels are loose.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Veglia Borletti instrumentation consisting of an 85-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and a fuel level gauge. The seller states that the coolant temperature readout works intermittently. The five-digit odometer is said to have rolled over once and shows 6k miles, approximately 14k miles have been added by the seller.
The 2.0-liter inline-four was retrofitted with electronic fuel injection under previous ownership. An aluminum radiator was installed in July 2021, and the battery was replaced in preparation for the sale.
The five-speed manual transmission was rebuilt in July 2021, at which time the clutch was replaced and the differential fluid was changed. An Ansa exhaust system is fitted.
