No Reserve: 1982 Yamaha XV920 Virago Cafe Racer

This 1982 Yamaha XV920 Virago was acquired as a non-running project by the seller who rebuilt it as a cafe racer with black bodywork, a gold frame, a Yamaha R1 front end and monoshock, a quarter fairing, clip-on handlebars, and rear-set foot controls. It is powered by a 920cc V-twin paired with a five-speed transmission and is further equipped with a cafe-style bump seat, Pirelli tires, a two-into-one MAD exhaust system, and a multifunction GPS-based gauge. This XV920 cafe racer is now offered at no reserve with a Colorado title in the seller’s name.

The foot peg brackets and the aftermarket fuel tank were powder-coated black while the frame and swingarm were powder-coated Candy Gold. Equipment includes a quarter fairing, an aftermarket sub-frame, and a cafe-style bump seat as well as a clear windscreen, a side stand, and rear-set foot controls.

The bike was fitted with the inverted fork, triple clamps, dual disc brakes, wheel, and piggyback monoshock from a 2002 Yamaha R1 using adapter kits. The wheels and triple clamps were powder-coated black during the build, and a set of Pirelli tires were mounted at that time.

Yamaha R1 clip-on handlebars with aftermarket switches are mounted below the top triple clamp and frame an aftermarket GPS-based multifunction gauge that displays speed, a tripmeter, and direction of travel. The bike does not have an odometer, therefore total mileage is unknown.

The air-cooled 920cc SOHC V-twin breathes through an exposed K&N air filter and a two-into-one MAD exhaust system with an upswept muffler. Work during the build included rebuilding the carburetors, adjusting the valve clearances, and changing the oil.

Power is sent to the rear wheel via a five-speed transmission and an enclosed driveshaft.

The motorcycle is titled in Colorado by its 17-character VIN that contains the nine characters stamped on the engine and frame. However, the sticker that displays all characters of the VIN is no longer present.
