This 1986 Land Rover 90 soft-top was in service with the British Armed Forces until 2012, per the seller, who tells us it was imported to the US around 10 years ago, and in 2016 it was retrofitted with a 2.5-liter 200Tdi turbodiesel inline-four by LRC Customs of North Carolina. They acquired the truck in 2023, and subsequent work has included a conversion to left-hand drive, a repaint, refreshing the front seats, and servicing the suspension and drivetrain, which has a five-speed manual transmission and a locking center differential. Additional equipment includes checker-plate trim, a swing-out rear tire carrier, step bars, LED indicator lights, Wolf-spec 16″ steel wheels, and inward-facing rear jump seats. This soft-top 90 is offered with a clean Oregon title in the seller’s name.
The seller reports that in the past six months — along with the aluminum body being refinished — a replacement soft top and heavy-duty roof bars were fitted, door locks and handles were replaced, and the spare tire was relocated from the hood to a swing-out rear carrier that was added.
The Wolf-specification 16″ steel wheels are mounted with 235/85 Cooper Discoverer STT tires, and front disc brakes with ventilated rotors are paired with rear drums for stopping power. The coil springs at all four corners were replaced under current ownership.
The front seats are trimmed in gray vinyl, and the front cabin has sliding side windows as well as USB- and 12-volt power outlets.
Trimmed in houndstooth cloth, four inward-facing jump seats with lap belts are fitted over wood flooring in the cargo area, and a bulkhead removal kit was also fitted under current ownership.
The instrument cluster has a replacement 120-mph speedometer with a six-digit odometer showing 62k miles, ~500 of which were added by the seller, however it is not accurate, and total mileage is unknown.
The retrofitted 2.5-liter 200Tdi turbodiesel inline-four features an aluminum cylinder head, mechanical fuel injection, and an intercooler for its Garrett turbocharger.
Power is routed to the rear or all four wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case with a locking center differential. The seller adds that the front differential was replaced in the past six months, and 1st and 2nd gears can be stiff to engage when cold.
The seller provided documentation regarding military history and specifications that is shown further at the end of the gallery below.
The Carfax report lists history beginning in 2015.
