This 1995 BMW 540i is a black-over-black sedan that remained registered in California until it was relocated to the Midwest in 2011, and it was repainted following the current owner’s acquisition in 2013. Modifications consist of an M-Technic front bumper, a Turner Motorsports performance chip, a 3.15:1 limited-slip differential, a Racing Dynamics front strut tower brace, yellow European-specification Hella headlights, H&R springs, Koni front struts, Bilstein rear shocks, and a Billy Boat stainless-steel cat-back exhaust system. Powered by a 4.0-liter V8 paired with a six-speed manual transmission, the car is equipped with a sunroof, fog lights, 18″ Style 37 M Parallel wheels, power-adjustable front seats, an onboard computer, and a CD stereo. This E34 540i has 121k miles and is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of the owner with spare parts, a tool kit, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Illinois title in the owner’s name.
The car was refinished in the factory shade of Jet Black (668) in 2013 to address fading paint, according to the seller, and yellow European-specification Hella headlights and an M-Technic front bumper were added. Further details include a sunroof, fog lights, a forward-hinged hood, and deleted rear model designation badging.
The 18″ Style 37 M Parallel alloy wheels are mounted with staggered-width Continental ExtremeContact front and Bridgestone Potenza rear tires. The seller tells us that H&R springs have been added, and damping is provided by Koni front struts and Bilstein rear shocks. Euro M5-specification front brake components are said to have been installed, and the car is equipped with cross-drilled and slotted rear rotors. Ridges are visible on the front brake rotors, and imperfections are visible on the wheels.
The cabin features power-adjustable front sport seats and a rear bench upholstered in black leather. Amenities include an onboard computer, a CD stereo, air conditioning, and cruise control. There are cracks in the interior wood trim, the door mirror adjustments are irregular, delamination is visible on the rearview mirror glass, and the rear portion of the headliner is beginning to sag.
A leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer indicates 121k miles, approximately 12k of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.0-liter M60B40 V8 is spanned by Racing Dynamics front strut tower brace, and it has been retrofitted with a Turner Motorsports performance chip. The seller tells us that the water pump, thermostat, valve cover gaskets, and accessory drive belts were replaced in October 2024, and the oil was changed in April 2025.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission and a revised limited-slip differential that is said to have a 3.15:1 final drive ratio. A Billy Boat stainless-steel cat-back exhaust system has been installed.
The removed factory headlights, differential, and exhaust system are included in the sale along with spare parts and a BMW new owner audio program cassette.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other reported damage.
