This 1996 Mercedes-Benz SL500 was registered with two owners before it was acquired by the seller on BaT in December 2020, and it now has 59k miles. The soft top hydraulic cylinders and the tires were replaced following the seller’s purchase, and additional work is said to have included the installation of slotted brake rotors and low-dust pads along with changing the fluids and replacing assorted interior trim, light bulbs, and climate control components. Finished in Imperial Red over Parchment leather upholstery, the car is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. Additional equipment includes a removable hardtop, a black soft top, chrome-plated 16″ 12-hole alloy wheels, heated power-adjustable seats, a cassette stereo, a Bose sound system, and a remote six-disc CD changer. This R129 is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, service records, two keys, a hardtop stand, spare parts, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Idaho title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Imperial Red (582) and features a matching removable hardtop as well as a black soft top. Additional exterior equipment includes xenon headlights, fog lights, and fender air vents. The hardtop headliner was replaced in 2020, and the soft top hydraulic cylinders were replaced along with the headlight bulbs and third brake light assembly under current ownership. The chrome-plated 16″ 12-hole alloy wheels are mounted with 245/50 BFGoodrich g-Force Comp-2 A/S tires that were installed in 2021. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with ABS. The seller tells us that slotted brake rotors and low-dust brake pads were installed and the front splash panels were replaced under current ownership.

The cabin features heated power-adjustable seats upholstered in Parchment leather along with burl wood accents on the doors and center stack. Amenities include a deployable roll bar, seat position memory, a cassette stereo, retrofitted LED lights, a Bose sound system, a remote six-disc CD changer, a heated rear hardtop window, a wind deflector, cruise control, and automatic climate control. The seller tells us that over $4k of work on the climate control system included replacing the AC evaporator, blower motor, and fan. The vacuum pump is said to have been replaced along with the cabin air filter, dome light housing, sun visor trim, and assorted interior trim pieces.

The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel economy, and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 59k miles, approximately 14k of which were added under current ownership.

The 5.0-liter M119 V8 was factory rated at 315 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque. The oil was most recently changed at approximately 56k miles.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. The transmission was serviced in June 2023, and the car has been fitted with a MagnaFlow rear muffler.

Manufacturer’s literature, two keys, a period car phone, a car cover, a hardtop stand, and service records are included in the sale.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other reported damage.
