This 1997 Land Rover Defender 90 is one of approximately 2,800 North American-Specification examples imported into the US for the model year and was acquired by the seller in 2012. Finished in Coniston Green over Slate Gray vinyl, the truck is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 linked with a four-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and a locking center differential. Additional equipment includes a roll cage, a front grille guard, a pop-up glass sunroof, 16″ five-spoke wheels, air conditioning, inward-facing rear jump seats, and an Alpine head unit. This Defender 90 NAS is now offered with an owner’s manual, partial service records, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
NAS models were equipped with a roll cage from the factory, and this example features aluminum body panels finished in Coniston Green with black wheel arch flares. Further details include a front grille guard, taillight protection, Hella auxiliary lights, side step bars, checkered plate trim, and a tubular rear bumper with an integrated receiver hitch. A rear plaque identifies this truck as #504 of approximately 2,800. Scratches and dents are noted on various body panels.
The 16″ five-spoke wheels are mounted with 265/75 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A K0 tires, while a full-size spare is stationed on the swing-out carrier. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted discs at all four corners.
The front bucket seats and inward-facing rear jump seats are trimmed in Slate Gray cloth while Land Rover—branded floormats line the footwells. Appointments include air conditioning, a fold-down cup holder, and a locking center console with an Alpine amplifier and head unit. The headliner is sagging and cracks are noted on the climate control trim and passenger door panel.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. An inspection report in the gallery below notes that the odometer illumination needs to be serviced. The digital odometer indicates 113k miles, approximately 13k of which have been added under current ownership. The Carfax report notes mileage inconsistency entries in August 2004 and October 2004, and total mileage is unknown.
The 4.0-liter V8 was factory rated at 182 horsepower and 233 lb-ft of torque. The vehicle most recently passed a California emissions test in April 2025.
Power is sent to all four wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and a locking center differential.
The Carfax report shows the aforementioned mileage inconsistency entries.
