This 2004 Mercedes-Benz Unimog U500 was ordered new with an extended-length frame, an uninstalled non-driven third axle, and the VarioPilot system. With the intention of installing the third axle, the truck was placed on jack stands in 2004, where it stayed until it was acquired by the selling dealer in November 2024. The truck is finished in Zircon Blue Metallic over patterned cloth upholstery and is powered by a 6.4-liter turbodiesel inline-six linked to an all-wheel drive system with an eight-speed pre-selector manual transmission, a dual-range transfer case, three locking differentials, and portal axles. Equipment includes a three-way tipper bed, a heated windshield, 20″ wheels, power windows, clearance lights, cruise control, and side steps. This Unimog U500 is offered by the selling dealer in Colorado with the uninstalled third axle, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title.
The single-cab body is finished in Zircon Blue Metallic and is mounted on a hydraulic ram that allows access to the engine. The truck is equipped with a three-way tipper bed with aluminum folding sides as well as a polished fuel tank, a heated windshield, an intake snorkel, an exhaust stack, an extended-length frame, clearance lights, and side steps.
Ten-lug black 20″ wheels are mounted with Michelin tires.
The seating surfaces are trimmed in multi-color patterned cloth upholstery. The center console features controls for the transfer case speed, locking differentials, power windows and mirrors, lighting, and pneumatic emergency brake.
The truck was optioned with the VarioPilot system, which allows the steering wheel and pedals to be positioned on either the left- or right-hand side of the cab. Instrumentation includes a 75-mph speedometer, a tachometer, auxiliary gauges, and a pair of digital displays. The digital odometer indicates 231 miles.
The 6.4-liter OM906LA turbodiesel inline-six sends power to the wheels through an automated pre-selector manual transmission with 16 total forward gears along with a dual-range transfer case, three locking differentials, and portal axles. The seller notes the truck came from the factory with a 70-mph top speed. A fluid and filter service was performed in May 2025.
Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery.
An uninstalled third axle will accompany the truck.
The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage from one total entry in 2004.
