This 2017 Ford GT is one of 27 ’66 Heritage Edition examples built in commemoration of the GT40 Mk II that Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon drove at Le Mans in 1966. It was purchased new by Alan Hartman, then studio manager of Turn 10 Studios, maker of the Forza racing video game series. It has spent much of the last seven years on display in the Turn 10 Studios office in Redmond, Washington state, and now has 2,500 miles. It is finished in Shadow Black with Ingot Silver stripes over a Dark Energy leather interior and is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transaxle. The car was optioned with the $20k Heritage Roundel Graphics package, matte carbon-fiber exterior trim, and titanium lug nuts. Additional equipment includes a front-axle lift system, 20″ Satin Bronze forged wheels, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, butterfly doors, and a retractable active rear wing. This Ford GT is now offered on dealer consignment at no reserve with an ordering kit, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Washington state title. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to SpecialEffect, a registered charity in the UK that aims to transform the lives of physically disabled people through the innovative use of technology.
First unveiled at the 2015 North American International Auto Show, the second-generation GT was built by Multimatic of Markham, Ontario, with production beginning in December 2016. This example is finished in Shadow Black with over-the-top Ingot Silver stripes and Heritage Roundel Graphics. Additional exterior details comprise LED headlights, a lightweight Gorilla Glass windshield, butterfly doors, a retractable active rear wing, LED taillights, a rear diffuser, and matte carbon-fiber exterior trim. Clear paint protection film covers the body.
The GT features a carbon-fiber monocoque structure bolted to front and rear aluminum subframes that serve as stressed members for the hydraulically adjustable pushrod suspension system. Variable ride height, a front-axle lift system, selectable driving modes, and launch control are standard features.
The 20″ Satin Bronze forged aluminum wheels are mounted with optional titanium lug nuts as well as Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Braking is handled by silver-painted Brembo six-piston monoblock calipers over 15.5” carbon-ceramic discs up front, while four-piston calipers are mounted over 14.1” units out back.
The Dark Energy cabin features black leather over the Sparco seats with manually reclining carbon-fiber shells, while exposed carbon fiber is visible on the door panels. The ’66 Heritage Edition specified blue seatbelts, Heritage door panel roundels, and Heritage Gold accents throughout the interior. The fixed-position driver seat is paired with an adjustable pedal box and steering column, and additional appointments include automatic climate control, six-point harness anchors, Heritage door panel graphics, and a touchscreen infotainment system.
The leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel fronts Heritage Gold paddle shifters and a configurable digital instrument panel. The digital odometer indicates 2,500 miles.
The mid-mounted twin-turbocharged 3.5L EcoBoost V6 features a carbon-fiber engine cover and was factory rated at 647 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Getrag seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transaxle. Carbon-fiber aero panels are fitted fore and aft.
The Ford GT ordering kit is included with the car.
Photos of the car during production are provided in the gallery.
The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage.
The car is titled to the selling dealer, who will receive payment at the end of the auction. Proceeds from the sale —including the BaT buyer’s fee—will then go to the Dechomai Foundation, with the primary beneficiary of the auction said to be SpecialEffect. The Dechomai Foundation is a national donor-advised fund that assists charitable organizations and donors in the process of receiving, managing, liquidating, and finally granting proceeds from non-cash donations.
